BACKPACKS 4 KIDS AZ AT A GLANCE

A Bit of Background

Backpacks 4 Kids AZ was founded by Kaitlyn when she was just 11 years old. After realizing that one of her friends didn't have any school supplies, Kaitlyn and her mom, Michelle, took action to provide them. This experience sparked a conversation about the broader issue of children lacking school supplies, leading to a school supply drive at Kaitlyn's school.

That initial drive was able to provide school supplies to roughly 200 children in need. Since then, Backpacks 4 Kids AZ has grown into an organization that now distributes an average of 3,500 backpacks filled with school supplies annually. In recent years, we've expanded our services to include a family food pantry that serves thousands of families each year and provides over a two hundred snack bags and hygiene kits per month to our unhoused neighbors.

We're proud of the impact we've been able to make in our community and are committed to continuing our work to support children and families in need.

Kaitlyn Martinez is 16 years old and is the founder of BackPacks 4 Kids. The organization supports school systems by providing supplies to students-in-need. Recognizing the need for more technological supplies amid COVID-19, Kaitlyn wants to expand her organization and give children access to Chromebooks and refurbished computers. In the future, she hopes that BackPacks 4 Kids will have several branches across the country.

Hot 97.5 & 103.9 has teamed up with Backpacks 4 Kids AZ to help kids get back to school with all the tools they’ll need for a successful school year. Whether school is on-line or an in person education, our future leaders need supplies! Become a backpack hero and give valley kids a head start this year by donating a backpack filled with the school supplies they need to achieve in school. For a $20 donation, you can provide a student with a Hot 97.5 & 103.9 backpack filled with school supplies. Backpacks 4 Kids AZ mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed in the classroom by providing free school supplies to students most in need.
